Does anybody know where to look for a new camp? I am looking for land or an existing building for sale to establish my own camp. Any real estate websites that list Ontario hunting camps for sale? Crown camps or private? Preferably backing onto Crown Land. Mainly after whitetails. Any help would be appreciated. Not sure where to start without talking to a real estate agent. Thanks guys.

Theres plenty of crown land in this country. Get some friends together, some quality camping gear, a few tags for big game and youre all set... dont forget to bring youre fishing rod.

I have considered this as a temporary option, but I am really looking to establish a permanent hunt camp with a building. Been searching kijiji and buyandsell but haven't really found anything. I have heard you can buy a "crown camp" from the government, where you just own the building and not the land.

Government leases are starting to cost quite a bit money, yearly. They are also usually grouped with a lot of different lots. It is like being in a sm communtiy. I would suggest finding a piece that is for sale. If you dont mind waiting you will find a piece on kijiji.

Used to be 99 year leases from the 50's and 60's, but they won't give them anymore. When they're gone, they're gone...

The further north you go, the cheaper land will be, and it is a fair bit cheaper to build on vacant land than to buy some with an existing structure. What area are you looking for? And how much can you afford to pay?

I am not sure about the budget yet. I am just looking for a piece of land on which to build a hunt camp or an existing camp for about 10 guys. I would prefer it back on to Crown or have ample hunting land. I have found some sites that list hunting camp-type lands for sale. I am going to keep an eye on it. The reason I made the post though is because I was interested in the Crown Camp idea. I heard this can be cheap (right around $10,000), but if this is no longer happening then I guess I'm out of luck. Just found out there is a Crown Camp for sale near where I presently hunt. Going to check it out on the weekend. It's owned by some older guys who are getting out of hunting. ATV access only, so it should hopefully come cheap.

Check out the classified sections of Ontario Out of Doors, Field and Stream, Outdoor Life, Fur Fish and Game, etc. There is usually an ad in there for a property catalogue that lists 100's of properties across Canada (broken down by province, then municiplaity, etc). They even provide financing if needed. I get the quarterly catalogue and there's lots of dreamy sites for a fair price. I can't for the life of me find the catalogue or remember the name, but I'm sure I found the ad to the website in one of those magazines.

dignam, that's the company name. Check em out.

My wife and I scour mls.ca for our dream lot almost daily. Lots of good filter options to narrow it down to what you are looking for.

Used in combination with this crown land map (link below) you can try and find a plot of land that suits your needs and that's also adjacent to crown land.

Have fun!
