Not real pretty, but it works, and was made using stuff lying around in my workshop, using hack saw, files, to cut profiles, and had to tap 2 holes.

Receiver clamp wrench larger lower section made from ½ HR steel plate. Backing plate is rolled aluminum alloy 3/8 and is bolted to the ½ steel. The fwd tang on the receiver fits into this aluminum section, so it will have some give and deform before the receiver tang breaks off on real tight ones.

Top “cap” is 3/8 steel. Note brass shims in place.

One photo shows assy in the vise ready to tighten. No impact is needed to install, but some bbls have to be faced (usually .001 to .0015”) so proper final rotational bbl draw of 1/16” to 3/32” is finished using the vise. Note green vise jaws, these have been contoured to not crush the gas chamber.

Questions invited.

Thanks for the pictures Manteo97. I am quite that I can make something up like this as well. It's a great idea to have the receiver fitted all the way around with the wrench. My plainsfield will be heading out into the countryside this summer. Thanks again.
