I have a Lee Enfield Jungle Carbine, and the guy who had it before me decided instead to have it parkerized he just sprayed it with black paint!

How do I get the paint off without damaging the metal?

I had a .22 that was sprayed completely black with a Krylon paint. I used a spray finish remover for fine furniture. The paint bubbled and came off with a 00000 steel wool. Never hurt what blue that was left on the metal and did a dandy job on the woods too. the woods turned out to be a very nice blonde.

Strip wood and all components. Purchase a can of lacquer thinner, rubber gloves and roll of paper towel. Take outside(need a well ventilated area), wet the towel with thinner and stroke a small area until paint is removed...won't take more than an hour to strip the entire rifle. Clean with additional applications of thinner. When satisfied oil the rifle. This is much more effective than paint strippers as they sometime react with the metal finish.

If this doesnot work then the rifle has been Suncorited and the only way to remove it is to bead blast. The rifle would have to be reparkerized or blued. Suncorite is a correct factory finish.

Good luck with the project.

Whoa! Don't assume someone just spray painted it. That may well be Suncorite, a correct British finish. (as RGG7 mentioned first)

Does it say FTR on the left of the receiver anywhere?

How about a few pics of it?

My horror story.
A guy I once worked with wanted a No4. I put him onto a very nice one at the local gun store. Now the suncorite had a few scratches so I loaned him a spray can of "British Black paint" to just touch up the scratches.
THE IDIOT WIRE BRUSHED off ALL the original suncorite and then used the ENTIRE can of paint to repaint the rifle! To add insult to injury he then had it drilled and tapped for a scope. OH yeah, I never got the spray can back either.

Turns out it was paint. I picked up some Laquer Thinner and used that. I stripped the stock off the rifle, took a brush and brushed it on a couple times, then grabbed one of my fiances nail scrub brushes and the paint came off like nothing. Il post some pics when I get my camera charged up.

Thanks for all the help
