how to get a better Glock trigger?

Hi,

One of the things I don't like about my glock is the trigger. I like linear triggers, which in the case of my glock, is really not the case.

I might also want to reduce trigger pull, but that's secondary.

So far a ny1 spring and 3.5lbs disconnector seems to be what everybody is doing... Any other ideas/ suggestions?

I don't think you're going to change the arc of the trigger path any without some serious smith work. What you can do (if you're not shooting IPSC or what have you) is purchase an aftermarket trigger rig that will reduce both takeup and reset. The net motion will be a much smaller arc, so it won't "feel" quite as circular.

Reducing pull is fairly easy. Have you done the 25 cent trigger job? Recommend this before swapping any non-stock parts in. That alone can make a dramatic difference in feel. As you noted, the 3.5lb connector will drop the pull weight. The NY1 spring will actually increase the trigger pull weight, but some (many) people like the combination with the 3.5lb connector (I didn't like it). You can also play around with lighter than stock trigger return, striker, and FPBS springs. Wolff has these available, Brownells sells them in a kit.

After much farting around and trying different options, I returned my Glock to stock configuration (polished, however). That was as good as it got for me. Until I sold my Glock and bought something else. :)
 
It's been a long time since I've had experience with a Glock, and it was just for a minute... But since I've decided I need to get one to see what all the fuss is about, and I don't feel I can get to know a pistol without owning one for a while, I've done some reading. It seems like plenty of folks have gone the route that alpining did, only to reach the same conclusion and return to stock. From what I've read, the Glock trigger requires an open mind who is willing ot get used to its unique feel. Once you do, I'm promissed I'll be in love and immediately want to sell my Sigs and 1911... more to follow on that.

I have this set up in my Glock.

It makes it much less "stagey" and gives a much more defined reset.

But you can't change the design of the trigger. You'll never make it a 1911 trigger, despite what Travis Haley tells you.

My gen4 G21 is completely stock and feels "crisper" than my G17.
 
I'm not sure if you can bring these into Canada. It is supposed to remove all the slack in the trigger pull.

And the guys with Sigs they want the X5, SRT or the German made hand fitted triggers. Both guns are far from target pistols and while both have “service” triggers they go opposite ways. Sigs internals can be worked up by any gunsmith to be better less crip…..bla bla, then less travel by the use of the SRT kit. Will be way better but still not close to lets say the X5 standard trigger. Glock triggers are a bit different. Just the 25c job will…….not in a million years. That quick polishing job is good because is way cheaper and quicker than lets say 3000 rounds thru the barrel. I have tried every single trigger for my 17 and while the drop in kits are magic i see a problem spending $200 for a trigger on a $600 gun. Reset and travel is still there as part of the action safe design and honest i can’t imagine having a revolver trigger on my plastic Glock.
Btw the 3.5 connector with the NY1 spring feels better than stock just make sure you use the original Glock connector. Hard to find, expensive, you name it i believe the “-“ marked original connector is by far the better way to go by. At the end go out there and practice. The more you shoot the better you get and shooting pistol is all about control. I will pay 200 for a day of training rather then a fancy trigger…..but again that’s my 2c.
 
I dropped in a Brownells 3.5 lb disconnector and it was sweet. Almost as good as the G34 I just sold. Now my G17 is great, well almost as great as my P226R .22LR Classic and nearly as good as my STI Spartan 9mm single stack 1911... go-to target shooter. :D

The DA/SA action on my Sig was very nice but I could never get used to the transition. The Sig is long gone.....
Glocks may not have the "best" triggers (for some) but I appreciate the consistant feel shot after shot. YMMV
 
I really like the triggers in my Sigs (German made) and H&K's in SA, my P7M8 trigger is very sweet for a factory trigger. The DA in the regular H&K's and Sigs is a bit long and heavy though. The triggers in my 1911's are crisp and clean.

When I purchased my first Glock, a G17 Gen 3, I found that the trigger was UGLY when compared to the above; gritty, heavy and seemed to take forever to break. I shoot paper to see how accuracte I can get, and don't find the stock trigger works well for that application. Although I did take a 'shine' to the pistol.

I tried a Ghost 3.5 connector, but it was a 'so so' improvement.

I then purchased a Vanek drop in trigger kit. I like it much more, so much, that when I bought a G35 a while back I just bought another Vanek for it.

I've yet to try a Zev Tech, but the adjustments to alter pre-travel and over-travel, plus a shorter reset seem like nice features.
I have a G19 on it's way, so I'm going to try a Glock minus connector in it first. If it works I'll leave it in, if not, I think I'll try a Zev Tech.
 
Made the 25c trigger job.
Improvement was worth the effort. Thanks for all the input... I will probably invest a little on some parts now :)

johNTO, what trigger pull do you get with this combination?

For the guys that didn't like this combination, why not?
