Looking for a little help. I picked up a VZ58, new, in 223 a few years back. Before buying it I read about its accuracy ability (or lack thereof). Sub 3 MOA. Which for a plinker I was ok with. Sadly, no matter what I feed it I get between 3 and 5 MOA (I havent tried any hand loads - why even bother). I was hoping that some of you out there may have a sensible tip or two (key is sensible) to help get this dog of a rifle to perform a bit better. It's a cool gas piston rifle and would hate to part with it. There has to be something to squeeze out some better performance out of this thing. Thanks in advance.

Check the crown, try different ammo, make sure ur not resting on the barrel, take into account the twist rate... thats about all i can suggest.
They are very accurate guns for their price range. My CSA VZ 58 in 7.62 loves Hornady SST. With the added barrel rigidity of the .223 bore. I would expect the same stellar accuracy from the .223 model with the right ammo.

I should have mentioned that the 3-5 MOA is using a known working 1-6x Vortex. Doesnt matter what I feed it to date. PMC, Rem UMC, Federal of many types, PMU, Eagle, Barnaul, 55gr, 62gr ... 3-5 MOA. Yup, definitely spray and pray.
It might not be a bad idea to bring it in to have the crown looked at.

I dont know how the 223 barrel of the VZ58 compares with that of the 762, but it is a pencil barrel. The smallest I've seen on a 223 semi. And boy does it get hot fast. My Rem 597 has a slightly thicker barrel. I was hoping not to have to do hand loads for the VZ, but may try as a last resort. I hand load for my bolt action 308s, but run good old Rem UMC 150gr out of my Stag10 for plinking and get 1-1.5MAO all day long. It would have been nice for something like that on the VZ.
how do you find cleaning the rifle after using corrosive? ive only used barnaul non corrosive out of fear of improperly cleaning it and having the rifle rust
Clean it just you'd clean any other rifle/pistol after using corrosive, it'll take a bit more time. I use only corrosive in my milsurp firearms, well, expect for 9mm pistols. If you clean it thoroughly and on the same day there shouldn't be any problem. Some people use warm water with soap to wash out salt from the barrel/parts, I use Windex. After that's done I just clean and oil as per regular maintenance rules.
Like other people said, 3-5 is normal for that rifle, your scope might be playing games. I fired plenty of Vz's, mostly with milsurp ammo, they are all pretty similar in accuracy, a bit better with decent scope though. At least one I own is pretty close to what you have when fired with ARMS BUIS.
Great video. Looks like on average he's getting ~3MOA. It is a fun rifle and I like the idea that it is pretty easy to maintain. My trigger is also pretty spongy so maybe there is something that I can do there. Sadly mine is 223 so no big game - but my Stag10 in 308 is my preferred, even at 9.1lbs
After shooting paper, i determined mines accurate enough to have become my go to deer rifle.
