How to get brass super shiney

Some will say that ammonia contained in Brasso will weaken brass.

A spoonful of Brasso in a load of media and cases doesn't have enough ammonia to damage the cases. Lots of people have used Brasso in their media without ill effects. Many other types of metal polish or wax will also work well: Flitz, Peek, Autosol, Nu Finish, etc. If the brass isn't coming out shiny, try tumbling for 24 hours.

I much prefer wet tumbling due to cleanliness. Dry media can get the outside shiny-looking, but it still has a film on it that turns your fingers black when you handle the cases. You also don't have to worry about dust and stray pins are much easier to pick up than particles of walnut shell or corncob.

I bought a real soft wire brush wheel for my bench grinder.
I've done a few brass on it and found it time consuming.
Cleans the prints awff yer digits though.

I use walnut media with a touch of Mothers Automotive Scratch Remover. . I add it with the tumbler running. . Lid off, before I put in the casings and let it mix in good with the media.

Casings that are quite corroded I give it 24 hours and they come out real nice. . Normal casings, overnight is enough.

Your media probably needs a change out. I had corncob with stuff that came with frankford tumblr, last batch didn't clean too good and was in for 6rs. I was bored so I washed the media, wow was it ever dirty. It was a bit of a pain and probably won't do that again.

My new rig up is 1/2 corncob and 1/2 walnut from the pet store and mothers metal polish, super shiney in 3hrs works good for me.

I did some in ultrasonic cleaner at Wifes dental office and didn't do anything fancy and can't see me changing to ss pins although lots seem to like them.

I use common corn cob media. To get a really good polish I smear some FLITZ polish on the inside of
the bowl , near the top . Quantity is about the size of 1-2 peeps . I used , Brazzo added to media
4 years but it takes longer to mix . Totally sold on a smear of Fritz ,,,,,, easy & effective .
Flitz makes a liquid metal polish. I add a couple of small squirts to untreated fine corn cob media and the brass really comes out shiny.

SS pins does the best job of cleaning out the crud from primer pockets and interior of the cases. I use SS pins wet first, then either corn cob or walnut, if I need the brass really polished.

4 hour's of wet tumbling get's you this

Tried a quick one before supper and put 60 prepped 300 H&H Dominion cases in the tumbler, walnut media with a couple of small squirts of Mothers Scratch Remover, for about 3 hours. . They came out right decent and good enough for me. .
