How to get rid of seeds on pants and cloth?

When I was a teenager, I had a little pet bird...I think it was called a Java bird, black and white...Anyway it was fashionable to turn your homemade wool socks down over your boot tops...my mom would put a newspaper on kitchen floor, hang the Burry socks over the back of the chair, and the little bird would pick them out one at a time, and drop them on the newspaper. He loved it and would get every one.
