I've never hunted before, fish lots though. I'd like to get into hunting, and was what would be the best way to start out.

Looking to do deer mostly, and go bigger once I am more experienced.

Take whatever hunter education/safety course your province requires to start.

Then research, research, research.

Haunt your local hunting websites, read hunting books, magazine articles, everything you can and in the off season start to explore hunting areas and observing animal behaviour.

Other Ontario hunters will have to help you there.

Other hunters can help you a lot. Some of the vets in B.C. even offer to take new hunters out for a trip or two to learn the procedure.

Hunting season is under way out East now too I assume, maybe you can find someone to take you on a "ride-along" to get familiar with the sport.

Birds and bunnies would be a good starting point. Gets you out in the woods and looking for game that you have a much higher chance of bagging as a rookie. Lets you practice basic field dressing and preparation of the animals too.

get your hunting license and a bow (crossbow) and then go out deer hunting... you will learn lots and its a long season.....

Join your local hunting club or shooting range, & start making new friends :). The Stittsville or Smiths Falls clubs are probably closest to you in Ashton. As others have mentioned, start out hunting small game & waterfowl. Geese are plentiful, & all you really need to hunt them are a few decoys & a good goose call. Have you already completed Ontario Hunter Education?

Not as of yet, but its in the works. Where can I go to get some literature on hunting? Don't think Crapters would have that...

X2 on the library.

Vancouver for example has a pile of books on hunting Whitetails, not terribly useful here, unless you live in Rock Creek or Creston.

Jack O'Connor's "Big Game Hunting" is an old classic that covers the basics really well.

Plus you will find no discussion about the 300WSM or quads in there.

Hunting according to Jack is done carrying a 270 and using eyes, binoculars, boots and occasionally horses.

You'll have to pay the Outdoors Card Tax for hunting too. Not a big deal once you've passed the Hunter's Safety course and test.
You won't likely be hunting deer this year though. Bow season has already started in most WMU's and the gun season starts (or has already ended in some WMU's) very soon. Beginning of November in most areas. That doesn't mean you should wait though.
