How to guide to traveling to Ottawa for Nationals & FCWC

...Watch the oversized baggage on the other end because it will likely end up there with no one around. Travel with your docs/permits etc although I've never been asked for them. No really any of their business anyways....

That is a good point! The two airports I've have flown into with rifles are Regina and Ottawa. In both cases, you have to watch the normal suitcase carousel with the hundreds of people milling around AND the oversize conveyor belt off to one side. This is where the snowboards, golf clubs, jeezly big sports bags and rifle cases emerge. In my experience, there hasn't been any airport authority supervision on either. Travellers are expected to look after themselves, and where the criminal element help themselves. If your luggage is uninspiring, maybe you need to stand over by the oversize "chute" first.

Have you thought about ground transportation? Your average econo-box rental car is very likely to be too small to handle a rifle box in any direction, except leaned diagonally on the passenger seat. Suggest looking at a minivan for convenience and security, vs a half-ton with no cover on the box.
