I came into posession, through what I think was a good deal, a complete upper / barrel of unknown brand. I've taken it to the range, and coupled with my stag lower, it shoots as good as my complete stag upper.

Are there industry-standards spots on the barrel and upper to look for manuf information?
Barrel is 14.5 gov't profile, 556 NATO stamp

This may help, standard forge markings for Upper receivers.

Forge marks on the receiver usually mean nothing when trying to ID a manufacturer (other than the branded ones), they mean totally nothing when trying to ID a barrel. We sometimes get Cerro, Anchor Harvey and Cardinal Forge marked uppers all in the same box of 24 CMT/Stag uppers.

As an example, can anyone tell me what brand of upper this is, based on forge marks? (You can by the design though! :) )

There were a lot of Wilson 11.5" and 14.5" barrels smuggled out of the USA and into Canada over the past year. I'd agree with Paulinski that this is probably one of them.

Dangertree is 100% correct. Very few manufacturers have their code forged into the upper. Colt, Diemaco and Armalite do.

It is sometimes possible to ID the manufacturer of the barrel by the markings, but apparently not in your case.

Dangertree, obviously it's a Stag because it's a lefty but correct me if I'm wrong, their appears to a C code on there as well as the forgers code. What's up with that?
