A local gun guy has a model 7 .308 in what he says is an old#black#mcmillan stock.# My shoulder isn't working anymore so I have to put my normal mountain rifle aside until later on.# This model 7 feel under 6 pounds so it could work for me (Size and weight) once I thread a muzzle break on it which one came with a newly acquire ruger ultralight in 30-338.#

Now my question is...how do I identify if it is in deed a mcmillan or not.# Once my shoulder is better I will be reseling it as I already have a 308 (and others lol). And I want to unsure I don't sell it as a thing it's not.#

The stock is older, couple rough spot shows white underneed the black.#

i know it's a vague question, any help will be appreciated, I might still just buy it and show pics once done.#

Hard to say without pics

Picture required. If it’s factory installed it’s a brown precision or McMillan both excellent. Is the pistol grip round?

None of mine have McMillan in the inletting, just my last name

That’s interesting. I never bothered to check my others but had a supergrade stock marked McMillan and assumed that was normal. I bought it second hand, maybe the guys name was mcmillan!!

I believe that is the model 7 FS, which was offed by Remington at one time. That stock is made by brown precision in my opinion, but I have never seen such clean inletting in a brown precision. If I am right, the FS is an excellent stock.

I would also get the second rear screw added so you can run two piece mounts like the Talley ultralights. They don’t over hang the ejection port.
