How to identify an older mcmillan stock

And if you’re interested, I would swap out the factory shroud for a ptg alloy shroud. They have much nicer lines than the factory m7 shroud and will save a little more weight if that’s the goal.

Nice find by the way.

And the previous owner did this to the screws...

Thank you, it did cost me 850 (trade and cash), would mineral spirit clean that rusty color on the action. I'm also wondering how to clean those front screws, I do have iron sights for it somewhere I think or I know I have four or 5 William's rear sights

I would try scrubbing it with oil soaked 0000 steel wool. It may be the bluing is gone already though, then you’re pissing in the wind. I cant quite make out the screw holes in the pictures, but if they are plugged with screws with no slot, you will need to have them extracted.
If he filled the holes with some sort of epoxy a heat gun will likely soften them enough to be dug out and the threads chased with a tap.

Now, once i figured out if it shoots well, could i send it to krlane to get it cleaned up and reblued or stainless it? That rust red is bothering me, the finish is that parkerized finish o hate so much...

Depends on what you want to spend. If you want to pretty it up, send it to brno284, have him Gunkote the metal, repaint the stock, add the 4th hole and clean up the sight mounting holes.

Or take care of it and shoot it as is.

Wife is a hippie and
Painter so will give her a chance for the stock lol
Woll see.hpw it shoots first, cant seem to clean it, tried never doll stuff

Easy way to ID them:
If it’s factory, composite, has a normal pistol grip with no cheekpiece its a FS and made by Brown precision.
If it’s factory, has the round pistol grip, and a cheekpiece it’s a KS and can be either brown precision or McMillan.

Those were the only two factory offered composites that I’m aware of. (Not including the new HS Precision m7)
