How to import an Antique?

Sorry I am just not tracking what you are saying and my PMs are full...haven't figured out yet how to delete them.

I live in SK. How would one even arrange so that it makes it way here from Toronto or whever it first flys in from? All my packages from UK have ultimately been shipped by Canada Post

I don't believe UK post will take a flintlock for international shipping so it will have to go with air cargo. At least that's how I shipped from the UK.

Your cargo will go through whatever connections and I suspect Regina would have to be your pickup airport. Just like I pick up in Ottawa and it's definitely not a direct flight from London :)

Hello. How do I import a flintlock from the UK? What paperwork do I need to fill out and who are importers that handle these services?
The question is really "how does the seller export it from the UK?". All of the paperwork and permits required are at that end of the process. There appear to be a small number of UK freight agents that will take this on and they appear able to charge ridiculous amounts for what appears to be very little actual effort. The last two I brought over the "agent" at least processed them very quickly. A previous import took nearly 3 months from purchase. In both instances the agent would only ship by airfreight for personal pickup at the airport where you have to talk to Canadian customs. There are, of course, no forms or permits at our end, the customs person only needs to be convinced the item is indeed a legal antique and you need to pay GST.
In both cases the freight agent/ broker indicated they would charge the same amount regardless of the number of items in the shipment. This seems counterintuitive but it was pretty clear talking to them that they would have charged the same export/ shipping fee for 10 muskets that they charged for two. A strategy for buying from the UK might be to find a friendly commercial seller with large inventory and get a group of buyers together to buy a number of items and drive the unit export/ shipping cost down. Sadly, many of the big commercial sellers in the UK want no part of exporting and won't even discuss it.
I would do it again for something truly unobtainable over here or in the USA.

Isn’t it as simple as driving over the boarder with it (declaring it obviously and showing proof of status) as if it’s antique here it will also meet their more lax antique laws?
