My father has a High Standard Sentinel Mk IV 4". It was the first gun I ever shot and would love to inherit it. Numrich's in the U.S. has a 6" nickle plated barrel for $51.80. Is there any way to legally get this barrel.

Compliance with US export regs is your primary legal challenge. I would use one of the commercial CGN site sponsors who offer such services.
Alas, that will be expensive, but such is the joy of compliance with gov't paperwork.

You should be able to inherit it just fine without the barrel change. A classification 12(7) I think is available to heirs of prohib handguns.

Just checked, 12(7) is for inherited per 1946 handguns

You can contact irunguns to arrange for the import....not sure what the fee would be

Is it possible to have a gunsmith import the barrel, if that smith is going to rebarrel that High Standard for you?

IIRC the manufacturer of the barrel must be registered to export from the US, not necessarily the distributor.

Get in touch with Prophet River (top of page) explain what, where and why and they'll be able to tell you when and how much. Another option would be to have a barrel made or adapted to your revolver.

Look at brownells if they have one they will export. 10 dollar fee and takes 6 weeks. I have done it, pretty easy.

Only issue is the barrel you pick the manufacturer has to have export permit I think. If they do brownells will send it.
