How to know if a Garand is parts matching?

Thanks for all the info guys. I don't want to get into an expensive game but this is an entertaining exercise. I like the fact that the gun consists of all SA parts - even though I now realize it doesn't really mean that much matching wise.

Gawd I hope I hope I don't get hooked on this...actually shooting guns was already expensive enough...:D

I've got a lend lease M1, no numbers match as we know they were never meant to (unlike a k98, for example). Manufacture date puts it around November 1941. Still it is in original configuration as issued. I chased this for many years before I was able to own it. Have not seen too many others around, but they have to be out there. Good luck:)

Does anyone know what part's are interchangable between the M1 Garand and the M-14's we all own?

I'm thinking not much is interchangeable but I'm no expert. I think the bolt is the only piece that would be even close...and I haven't looked that close. Curious what the experts will say.

Bolt is not interchangeable.

Although the rifles are similar, not very much is interchangeable.

Off the top of my head:

Extractor and associated bits
Butt swivel and lower screwHammer and associated bits
Rear sight aperture, base and cover
Safety
rear handguard spring clip (i think)
a few pins

Someone will come along and correct any errors i made.
