I will give you a tip that will make your krink look-a-like-complete ( as I'm working on it myself): Make a thread adapter (or modify the ones that are available for sale) so that you can use the real 24mm x 1.5 threaded krinkov muzzle device to attach to your rifle. It can be recessed so that the barrel looks shorter too when the muzzle device is attached.

Or, the mod can be done when the compact models come out.

Anyway, congrats on the creative work. I hope you (or others) can use the above idea.

Actually, now that i think about it, i can't recall ANY AK's (short, std, or long barrel) leave the factory with a handguard like that, but since the thread is about Krinks (improper term of western origin, btw), this is not relevant.

Soviet Krinks in 7.62x39 were ALL issued with that handguard. Ever since that first appeared in the late 1980's Afghanistan. It's not a "custom" in any respect, it's how it was issued to the troops. But that entire model was made in really small numbers compared to the 5.45 Krink we all know of. Now, if it was made in a factory, or an employee's home woodshop, I don't know. But that's how thousands of them were issued like I said.
