I thought I would make and upload a vid.

Some SKS owners have cut the original stripper clips down to 5 rounds but IMHO this is not necessary.

The purpose of this video is to show that with a little practice and dexterity one can load only 5 rounds in an SKS rifle from an original 10 round stripper clip.

And for those that are new to the SKS...How the safety works: first OFF (lever down), then ON (lever up). BTW you will need the safety in the ON position to be able to remove the trigger group during take down/cleaning.

Some may laugh and it does seem like a simple concept but I needed this video.

I was at the range the other day(Sat.) shooting my new(to me) Russian refurb for the first time. This was the first time I'd shot an SKS, and the first time I've used stripper clips. I was having trouble with the sixth round falling out of the clip when loading because I was just pushing the whole ten rounds down. I was a little frustrated to say the least after ten clips. Now I know better.

Thanks

I don't have any trouble just loading five with the sks. With the cz858 I often get the sixth round coming off the clip. I will give your technique a try. Thanks for the vid.

I don't even seperate them, theres no need. If you load enough stripper clips you can 'feel' 5 rounds go in without the sixth off the stripper clip and half-way loaded screwing everything up.

OMG!
:D
Are you using a benchrest to shoot an sks!?!
LOL!!!
You know it's not a percision rifle right!?!
On a side note and all razzing aside. I think this should get sticky.

Well my wife and I where shooting at and hitting the 300 yard gong at the time and also it gave me an extra hand for the vid. :D

Your hands look soft and supple, like a woman's....:D

Why thank you ~bats eyelashes flirting~ it's all the diaper cream they are exposed to these days. :D

Took me about five minutes of swearing to figure that one out :D

Don't feel too bad as a few years ago it took me 10 min and a dead blow mallet and a brass punch before I thought...hey maybe I should look this up on line. ~facepalm~

BTW your very welcome folks, I'm glad to share the info with any that need it.
I'm thinking of doing a series of vids on the SKS. :)

i usually have plenty of stripper clips lying around
so i leave only 5 rounds on each clip and then at the range just push them in

it takes more time than your method does but while at the range i dont need to count rounds

x2
never had the issue with loading from the full 10 round clip by pressing on the top one...5 gets in 5 stays on the clip. however, I think the sixth round could happen to fell of if the mag was not pinned "precisely" to 5

Maybe mine is pinned just right but i can just push all 10 down from the top and it will load 5 into the magazine and the other 5 will just move to the other end of the stripper clip.
