I have made cannon fuse in the past with Pyrodex mixed with water to make a slurry. Drag your string through and let dry. Burns faster than his does, but very simple to make.

i was a bit outta date with the current regs too. You used to be able to buy stump remover in Canada that contained KN03. However, now it's very hard to get without tons of paper work. So I guess that defeats my original post

There are videos/blogs on how to make pyrodex fuses. Looks messy though. Google "Pyrodex fuses"
