Hey Guys,

I'm looking at purchasing a shorter barrel for my 10/22.

I'm hoping to be able to put the factory sights on the new barrel (I prefer irons over glass or RDS).

Is this an easy task? How do you affix the sights to the barrel (glue)? Is it a pain to get them lined up properly?

Thanks,
Matt

With a proper jig, holes may be drilled and tapped top dead center and in line for mounting sights.
Ruger factory 10/22 sights mount in dovetails. With a careful setup, dovetail slots can be milled in the barrel.
Or, sights can be mounted on bands.
Getting sights properly mounted will probably cost more than the barrel.

I'd vote that you ask Dlask to supply the barrel with dovetails. Or get a local smith to mill dovetails to suit.

Using dovetails means you can more easily swap sights and you can also make windage changes by slightly drifting the sights side to side.

Just a thought but what about a receiver mounted peep aperture sight and just the one dovetail mounted front sight? That provides you with options for different size rear peep apertures from small for ultimate accuracy to larger sizes which act like a ghost ring style for fast sight picture acquisition.

i guess it depends on price.
you could get some NoDak fronts and rears but those are gonna run you about $100US plus conversion and import.
they are nice though.

i would think at the end of the day doing what BCRider says and asking Dlask to just put 2 dovetail cuts into the barrel for you would be cheapest.
in fact if you call them can you post the price on here for us?
im kinda curious what that would run for price, now i kinda wanna put some sites on my Dlask builds, haha!

sorry, visual reference for ya

NoDak Spud open sites front and rear, not a Dlask but a TacSol and a Ruger stock receiver.

If you think you can glue sight on , better get them to do it.
Mind you on a 22 with proper glue, it can be done, but MUST be lines up right the 1 st time.
