I have my normal FAC but how do i get my hand gun license or restricted license during this pandemic? is there a online test?
Thank You

You can't challenge the exam anymore so you will have to take a class and then pass the test and submit the paperwork once passed. Same as before but likely with a lot less classes being offered.... I doubt the CFC has set up anything to make it easier during the pandemic.

Welcome to gunnutz!

I always encouraged people to get their restricted as well. Many of them say they don't have an interest, or couldn't be bothered getting something that could only visit a range. And I tell them: "That may be; but one day you might change your mind in a hurry, and then you'll be waiting months or a year..." I also tell them to get a good semi auto pistol, too. If the laws change (or cease to exist!), that's the wrong time to go looking!

I've often thought that combining the licence into 1 single category would have been a good move by the Harper govt.

Yeah, maybe. Would have been nice, though I think it would have been a small or negative payback, politically.

The lefty media and liberals would have skewered him over it either by saying that he made it easier for people that wouldn't otherwise qualify, or want restricted guns. Or that he made it harder for the natives, as the CFO would likely deny more licences overall, as they deem some people too risky to have restricted, but not too risky to have a "hunting rifle". Doesn't make sense to me, either, but that's the way I see how that would have went.

If you had an fac then you had a pal, as previous legislation converted them over.

If you don't know, then you should contact the rcmp as they likely have information you should be concerned with, like your license number.

AFAIK, anyone that had an FAC already has the course requirements for a PAL (Not sure about RPAL?), so it should just be paperwork. Call the CFP (1-800-731-4000), they'll tell you what you need to do.

Unfortunately, they are more likely to fracture the licensing even further. Easier to stone wall people with a dozen bricks than just one.

You will need to take the Restricted course, you don't ay where your living you will need to google for an area in your province. The Course is approx 150.00 bucks
