How to pin a chinese or russian drum mag?

The one for sale in the EE (spf in like 5 seconds) got my interest up on these again... what's the proper way to block each style to 5?

Rommel, what I did with mine is I installed a long cherrymax rivet (aircraft hardware) through the side of the 7.62x 39 drum and going through a small nut or spacer, at the point where 5 rounds are held ,then the follower hits the extended rivet and nut and holds no more. As for the PPSH 41 or Yugo 49/57, with 7.62x 25tt, it's the same principal but going in through the front of the mag to stop the follower. The Aircraft rivets are stronger than regular pop rivets and can be pulled with a regular pop rivet gun, you just need the proper length though with the A/C rivets. I rivited a metal bar on the rotor inside the drum that brings up on another rivit in the drum body after 5 rounds. See pic:

That will work also, but with the longer aircraft rivet and spacer/nut, you only need one, good photo, wish I could do that (computer illiterate)...... Cheers avrow/Brian #93
