how to properly slug your bore?

i've got a tt33 tokarev that has a problem with bullets tumbling which got me thinking i should slug the barrel and figure out the proper diameter of the barrel

having never done this before does anyone have any advice for me? i was thinking i would just use a cast lead 9mm boolit as the slug but i wasnt sure if this is right

Do not use a cast bullet unless you know it's hardness, you must use pure lead! Get yourself an assortment of fishing "egg sinkers"(lead), oil bore well, with close fitting brass rod and hammer, drive a slightly oversize egg sinker the full length of the bore, measure, enjoy!
