How to put back a SKS trigger group w/o hand tool, or making the trigger group unlock/lock easier

As the title says.
Did a few removal and now the trigger group can be easily removed, but it is having problem to be put back.
Yes, I can put it back with the help of a hammer, but it is noisy and I clean my gun at night and I don't want to annoy my neighbor.
On those youtube vod you can just see people putting it back with a whack/pressure from a palm
Is there mysterial method/fluid i can use to make this process easier aside from just taking it apart and putting it back on repeatedly (aka breaking it in)
 
The Main thing is to be sure the Safety is ON, otherwise it will NOT go back properly. And the Hammer Coc*ed, too ! I used to Whack mine back together with my hand, but now I'm a 75-year old wuss and use a Rubber hammer. Tired of getting 'dents' in my wrist. NOT a steel hammer, Not even a brass one. Just a 'medium' Whack with the rubber one does the trick.
Maybe your 'retention Latch' is gummed up with old grease etc ? And the 'nose' of the group needs to be inserted Fully under that 'bar thing'.
 
K, taking note:
Make sure the safety is ON (ie you can't fire the damn stick)
Hammer Cocked, although should I leave it forward (closed) or backward (open)?
I will probabaly try to whack it back in with my hand and receive the badge of honor (the dings and dents on my wrist), but that will be morning.
(Side note: I did got pinched when trying to take out the cleaning kit from the stock, so technicallyk already already have one mark)
Currently it is done by using a tower covered steel head hammer to whack the whole thing in.
As of old grease; haven't tried to fully submerge it in boiling hot water yet, will try after next range trip when I shot corrosive ammo into it.
Or just whip out about 4 gallons of Ed's Red I just made and go mad max with it.
 
I'd suggest 'DumDum' talk to someone who knows what they're doing ! His recent 'answer' is just as confused and mis-guided as the First.
 
When I get to the point of t-group disassembly ,I just flip rifle upside down and push down with force on trig guard so it slightly pushes in,then hold keeping it compressed use a star head screwdriver and push in hard at the spot/divet and it opens...no hammering needed at least for the 6 ive done. I just push that badboy in when time to reassemble (safety on etc.) Use foot if more leverage needed.

^ You can try..but you'll be rocking' n' rollin' prob. little too much - ;) I figured that out long ago, b4 Interweebz..{lots of trial.&.error}1st gun I ever bought, was a Russian SKS..for $125.
 
bigger hammer maybe?

never needed a tool, clamp, press, hammer or foot to lock up an sks trigger group on any of the numerous ones I've owned since the early 90's.
If it's that tight, there is a problem somewhere or it's not being done right.
 
I use the gas rod, no hitting just a long punch by hand pushing in the retention tang.
I also use the stripper clip wings to use as a wrench to open the operation rod retainer in the rear sight block after by first using the gas rod to relieve the pressure of the op rod spring whilst twisting up the retainer...

I have used the cleaning rod aswell but more likely to jab that in your leg while trying to hold it steady before enough pressure was used to click the retainer in.
