When they make a new batch, I promise to not Bubbaaa it....
Ftaview I am afraid unless your's is a 1955 or 56 year production then it is not a collector & also all number's would have to match and there can't be the diamond mark on any part of the rifle. Further more if it's franken pinned again it will not have a collector value. But one thing it does have is :adult: ;)
Now Dsiwy this pic is from your friend buba!

It's a 51, it's franken pinned, not all numbers match, diamonds, hell didn't even look for those....

but when she's in my hands it's like a smooth dancing ...... :dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

can you ask for anything more, not from a 200 dollar rifle....

Removal of the original shellac from a laminate stock can be fairly easily done using 95% ethanol rubbing alcohol (from a pharmacy-be sure to get the 95% stuff) and either 00 steel wool or, my preference, "Glit" flexible abrasive synthetic steel wool-medium grade (Cdn. Tire) + several soft cotton rags.

Because shellac is alcohol based, this works great. Did mine today. Put some alcohol on the Glit or steel wool and rub the shellac finish; it dissolves immediately; wipe off as you go and change the Glit pad or steel wool as often as required.

Plan to apply Minwax oil stain and then apply two or three coats of an old fashioned homemade finish of a mixture of beeswax, boiled linseed oil, and turpentine - this gives a low lustre, good protection, and is great on milsurps (previously did a Lee Enfield Jungle Carbine with it).
Will post with pics when finished. If you want details on the BBLOT finish, PM me.
