Hi guys, i have a nitro-carbonized CZ858 with which i shot several hundred corrosive rounds about 2 years ago and forgot to clean it afterwards :( :HR:
So now the bore is full of reddish buildup. i guess the face of the gas piston also.
What's the most efficient way to get rid of this ?

Thanks

Took me 3 days to clean a CZ858 that had never been cleaned after shooting corrosive.

1st day- I plugged the bore and filled the bore with evaporust,
2nd day I filled the bore with PB blaster
after that I used JB bore paste and JB bore shine. I must of used 300 patches easy...

Bore looks almost new, but you can see where the pitting had started. I use this method on a lot of my milsurps to bring the bores back....

LOL, dont worry about harming it, the retard who didnt clean the gun and caused the rust has done that for you.

I'd second Evaporust....things magic in getting rid of rust.

How about break cleaner ? i am just afraid to harm the nitro-carburizing...

Also, i'm a member of the CRAFM gun club, and i believe they offer ultrasonic bath cleaning. Could that be the easiest option ?

Princess Auto in Canada, Harbor Freight in US. I'm sure there are other places, but those i know 100%

Yup I buy my Evaporust at Canadian Tire as well. It worked wonders on a poor sks that was given to me as parts because some guy didn't know about corrosive ammo or how to clean up after it.
I plugged the barrel and gas block with pieces of an old wine cork. Stood it up straight in my vise, then filled the bore up to the brim and left it over night. Then the next day I rinsed out the barrel and action with hot water, then dried with a blow gun and oiled with G96.
Evaporust is an amazing product.
