How to renew a PAL ?

Only way is to mail in the paper application. Do it well before the expiry date of your existing PAL. I think the application form can be downloaded and printed off from the CFC website. May certain that the application is filled out completely and correctly - otherwise the process grinds to a halt until things are straightened out.

What is considered well in advance? 6 months? A year? If say your RPAL expires 08-10-03 when would it be wise to start the renewal process?

If I recall correctly, I got my renewal notice a couple months before the expiry date. I completed and returned it within a week of getting it, and I had my new license well before the old one expired.

Hi everyone not to hijack but I only got my PAL 2 years ago and it expired on me last month and i didnt get a renewal notice or anything. Is there anyway to salvage this without retaking th course and losing my money again.

My advice... don't wait for a renewal notice... you may not even get one. I put my renewal in on my own about 4 months in advance of my PAL's expiry. Got my renewal in about 6 -7 weeks, but I wasn't taking any chances.

Since PAL's are issued for a 5 Yr. term, expiring on your birthday, I don't understand why anyone would only get a 2Yr. PAL. In any case, since you already passed the test, just send in the renewal application. It's not like the POL that can't be renewed if it expires.

I downloaded the forms and sent them in and had my new one in under 2 weeks, my old one still doesn't expire for another 2 months.

Stevey B, play stupid, say it got lost in the mail and you had to send another one.;)

Sent my renewal in last september:cool: ,finally got it back this january :runaway: after a bunch of phone calls:( .It was held up at the bc cfo, they didnt know why:confused: .If you have a restricted pal it also gets approved at your provincial cfo so that can slow it down before it gets sent back to the cfc.Government efficiency at its best:rolleyes: .

:runaway: Yes my Restricted Pal had expired before the new one arrived:runaway:

How do you reapply? Well mine was only issued for 2 years and it expired on Dec 10 instead of my birthday which is july 16. Im very confused!

Just filled my renewal today. Got it in the mail a week ago and it expires Feb 18th. It states to have it in at least 3 weeks before the old one expires.
My question, should I mail it registered mail or Xpresspost to make sure you know when they get it??

If you let it expire you can't just send in a renewal. You have to re-apply.

Unless this is a new rule, I dont think so...

I let mine expire 3 years ago, and all I had to do was a renewal form... and I let allmost 6 months go by before I renewed

"Use this form (CAFC 979) to renew a POL or PAL that has not yet expired. If you do not have a licence, your licence has expired or you are replacing an expiring FAC use form CAFC 921." ----- CFC

921 is the application for a PAL not the Renewal.

So are you telling me i have to retake the course? What I would like to know is why I was issued a PAL that was only for a duration of two years and expires no where near my birth date. The PAl expired on Dec 10th I believe, with no renewal notice may i add and my birthday is July 16th. Someone please help! Is there anyone out there who works for the DNR or runs PAL courses that could give me a hand here?? Please!!

Thanks So Much! Steve
