The amnesty protects against prosecution. That's it. Nothing more. Registered firearms owned by an individual with an expired PA/OL MAY be taken into custody pending issue of a new licence. This is not prosecution, so the amnesty doesn't help. It is illegal to own firearms without a valid licence. People have been receiving letters telling them to dispose of their guns, because their licence has expired. If a licence - PAL or POL valid for 12(x) expires, it cannot be renewed with 12(x) priviledges, and the 12(x) guns cannot be retained.
An expired POL cannot be renewed. A POL can be renewed if the current one has not expired. An expired POL can be replaced with a PAL. It is necessary to have passed the written and practical exams for the CFSC to apply for a PAL. CRFSC for a restricted endorsed PAL.
Stevey - I have never heard of a 2 yr PAL. If you passed the CFSC, you will have received a copy of the Course Report. Did you send a copy in with your PAL application? If so, it will be on file. The CFC and your CFO will also have received copies of the Course Report.
