How to safely remove a live wrong caliber round stuck inside a barrel

A guy at my local club leaves his 308 cases that have been fired in a 3006 on the ground quite often
Should have fired it if safe to do so at the time and place.

Care should be given transporting it. Dont want another episode like what transpired at epps years ago

The main question is how did you manage to load a 243 round into a 3006? I mean no disrespect im just curious. Are you new to firearms? Mistaking a 3006 for a 300wsm. And loading a 243 round into the chamber seem like obvious mistakes. If you are new to firearms i suggest seeking guidance from experienced gunnies. If it was just a simple mistake forgot i mentioned it. Im just sincerly curious.

Princess Auto has lots of heat shrink tubing that works good for these rods, slide it over the rod and heat with heat gun or a small torch, it is way better than tape

Hi Brybenn. no I'm not new to guns or firearms.... I have a lot of them (+25) I also reload my ammo. I'm also a grand dad.... But we all make mistakes . We all did something stupid at one point......
what happened that evening... I went hunting with my daughter and her boyfriend, As usual I supplied the guns for everyone. I had my 300wsm, the daughters .243 and the boyfriend was supposed to use my 30-06. the boyfriend never deer hunted before . he also never used a bolt action rifle. ( he has a sks and a pump shotgun). so believe it or not I was reviewing the good practice, showing them when and how to load their gun, not to leave finger on the trigger for no reason, etc, etc, First I explained with my 300wsm.(internal mag), then with the .243, I showed them how to load the external mag. then I showed with the 30-06.... and of course this is when it happened..... Not thinking I took those free rounds on the table (outside porch), loaded the 30-06 mag.... and you know the rest of the story.... .... that's it.

My son loaded a 6.5x55 in my .308 Norma Mag and fired it! A sickening pop and a funny look.No harm done but a small piece of brass had to be driven out of the neck area. The fire formed case came out no problem.........98 mauser.

And the end of the saga !!! victory !!!

you can see the tip of the bullet flattened and buried deep inside the brass. it is full of penetrating oil. it was not stuck that hard... I had to hit it like 15 times with a 16 once hammer but with low to medium intensity.... the oil must have helped.

anyway I'm REALLY glad is it out, and over....

I would like to thank everyone who have participated in the discussion. it sure made an interesting thread, with some pros and some cons.

Cheers and don't forget..... be safe !
