How to ship powder?

I just got off the phone with Cabelas after being quoted $160 freight for 1 pound of Winchester powder:eek:
How is reloading going to be cheaper with freight that high?
I thought that some courier companies would ship powders for a small extra charge?

I've never purchased powder that had to be shipped, but that seems a little extreme.....something's not right. Try Higginson's.....lots to choose from and it's prolly in stock......

I haven't had it shipped before either, but now the closest shop is a many hour drive away.
I thought something was haywire as well, the website said that dangerous goods had a $10 surcharge, which isn't bad, but $160 is just retarded.
And I though UPS had expensive border fees:rolleyes:
 
Try Budget Shooter Supply.
I just had 5 lbs. of various powders plus a bunch of brass, bullets, tools and stuff delvered to my door for $17.00. Would've cost me almost that much in gas to drive there and pick it up.

Bullets I'm casting, and the primers are coming from Cabelas, powder was the only thing with a high shipping cost so I took it off the order.
I go down to the lower mainland once in a while, I'll try Budget when I'm down next.
 
Back in the day, when I lived down there I would go south of you and buy components from a guy who kept a suitcase full of Uranium ore under his bed. Small gunshop. It really glowed when he shut off the lights. 10 lb steel kegs of IMR 700X. Thats illegal now.
Ya Henry will look after you. Call ahead to make sure he has it.
I order powder in 21lb lots from Higginsons. Was free shipping that way. Just pay hazmat fee of $15.
