Well, I picked up a CC IUR 15.7" rifle on SFRC's boxing week sale. I want to get into service rifle, figured I'd do both PR and SR.
Now I know with bolt actions you boresight it, how the heck do you do that with an AR? I was thinking I'd require a laser boresighter? Or is there another way to do this?

I'm planning on running a SIH Tac 4-12 until I get a feel for what I need, as that will be my 22LR scope.

Well, I was complicating it.. I was thinking about removing the buffer tube, and then boresighting it like that.. But that seemed like WAY too much work.

Luckily I still dont have the rifle yet, nor a ref # for the transfer either. So I have lots of time to learn.

I use back of Christmas wrapping paper only because got soo much of it. I start off at 25, then normally will zero a couple inches higher and then goto 100Y.

Some carbine buffer tubes have a hole in the back, I know A2 have them. Its so you remove your buffer and spring, bolt group carrier and bore sight it like that. Look thru the hole in the back, thru the receiver and down the barrel.

Depends on how high you have the scope mounted, but the average is around 2" above the barrel (think path of bullet). At 25 you should be hitting 2" low of point of aim, at the very least it will have you damn close at 100 and you can make fine adjustments from there.

Boresight as usual and get the largest cardboard you have and sight at 50.

This will give you nearly MOA accuracy out to 250 with it being dead on right around 200y depending on the ammo used

Bore sight by taking the upper off. And bolt out.

Look down bore...

That's what I do. Usually gets me on paper then I just keep the rifle steady with the reticle on the same aim point, then dial it over to the POI. A couple more shots to verify zero and I'm good to go.

How does your zero affect your group size? Or do you mean your point of impact is within an MOA of point of aim out to 250?

Yes...that is what I meant.

It doesn't quite work out exactly, but its pretty close. FOr competition shooting I like this zero, I know I can shoot at just about anything and be within 2.5" out to 250y. Means no hold overs or hold unders as long as the targets are standard sizes

I use an unfolded cardboard box as a large backer and then get it on paper at 25 yards. Move out to 100 yards after that.

Simple as pie, this is how I have done it every time I have needed to. I have chosen to go with a 50 yard zero on my ARs, thisgets me within roughly 2" of dead nuts from 25 to 200 yards. No bullseye put perfect for action shooting.

I just stick a Bushnell bore laser thru the A2 and align the scope to the laser dot out at 25m, then do what everyone else said about actually shooting at 25m and at 100m to get fine tuned.

You just pull out the rear pin, remove the bolt+carrier and look down the barrel. The sights should point aboot 2" above the bore at 10 yards. Then shoot and adjust at 25. Laser boresighters are great if you want to change optics without having to rezero.
You can change your zero by adjusting elevation on the scope.
