With a couple of other threads with people telling others to learn how to skin a coyote, but no one describing/showing how to do it. Since I plan to start coyote hunting myself this year and reading through some of the coyote threads to try and learn some tricks and tips, I figured I would search out some youtube vids on how to skin one. Here are a couple of the better ones I have found.

The only thing he never mentioned was "fleas"

Got me scratchin' watching him pull that fur back out ....:nest:

maybe the cold weather slows em down a bit?

scratch scratch ... RAID is da answer!

I know its a furbearing animal and all, and hunters can't let the pelt spoil, but whats a person supposed to do with it? What about the rest of the carcass?

The coyotes will eat their own, as well the crows and ravens will have a feast, just make sure to leave it far enough out of the way that people won't find it ie. don't leave it in the ditch, throw the remains far enough into the bush.

When I was trapping coyotes with a friend. The fur buyers wanted the feet skinned to the pads and nails left on them . Do some of the buyers still want this?

Excellent Video! I have never tried skinning a coyote and always thought i would never try but after watching that video i think I would give it a go. Thanks for posting.
How much work is it to tan it after?

I was told NO feet. The reason I got was because when they are tumbling pelts in a machine, there is a chance of ripping the hide from the nails if they are still on the pelt. I always skin them like the video does, I got $50 for one very nice coloured coyote last winter and I'm a complete noob at skinning and putting up fur.

That's generally only done when they're to be used for taxidermy work. When sold at auctions it's typically for the garment industry(fur trim on parkas, hats, etc.) and they don't require it and you'll get deductions. They prefer the lower jaw fur cut off as well.
