How to start an Ar-15 Build?

Sorry if this has been covered, but I imagine its relevant to the OP's interests. When I'm building an upper, how likely is it that I will run into headspace issues if I mix and Match a barrel/bolt. IE: A bushmaster barrel, with a colt BCG. If both parts are 'milspec' I should be okay, correct?

It should be, just check it with headspace gauges when completed.

More "building" get done with leggo..

When I buy something from IKEA I don't tell people I "built" a book case... :D

Leggo and AR15's are basically the same, you are just putting parts together and like Leggo you can use all kinds of different parts in your AR15 build.

Some people refer to ARs as the "Barbie for Men":

get a good barrel and start there. there isint a whole lot to building one of these rifles once you have seen/done/heard it once. do a headspace gage, firing pin protrusion gage and a firing mech test after assembly test and you'll be fine. i find the hardest part is on the ejection port cover that little rod and its c clip is the hardest part to put together.

yeah, across the street ,not next door though.:D

you should start with an upper ,they cost the most and you can do it now if you've got the $$$

I think I'd start with the lower. You never know when the the Gov't will get pissy and pass a OIC to ban another rifle... like the AR's. As the registered part, once you have it you can work with it. Without out one you'd be boned.

True enough, was just think of how hard it can be to save up for the upper, lowers are kind of the less exspensive part, easy to get once you get the paper work done with.
