I'm look at trying a whitetail hunting trip (rifle) for the first time? But the problem is where to begin. Me and four buddies want to go next year but we all live down in southern ontario, (not much for deer around here). So first we have the find a place to go. We don't know anybody with private property up north, and it's pretty well a 8 to 10 trip to explore the option. Next all of us has low budgets for the trip so what do we really need to have a successful trip?

First of all there are more deer in southern Ontario than there are in the North, but it is shotgun only and private property for most of these areas.
If you are serious you should look for a camp in need of members... and they are out there... gun ranges and sporting goods stores usually post these types of notices.
If you cannot afford to join a camp you are going to have to spend some money on gas and roll the dice looking for deer on Crown land.

I am from Southern Ontario and now live in Ottawa, and agree that there are plenty of deer down there. That having been said, you and your four buddies need to find someone among your many contacts who has a farm, or knows someone with a farm, and get the permission you need. I can't blame farmers for keeping hunters they don't know well off their land. However if there is a friendly relationship there, and the farmer is confident that your crew will act responsibly and respectfully, you could get an invite that could carry you for years. It's all about contacts - networks.

I would give up hunting before hunting on public property again.

Been hunting since I was 15, now I'm 32. Been pheasants, rabbits, ducks. Just looking to try something bigger. And live down near windsor

Up North is your best bet.
There's plenty of crown land. Call the MNR and bug them. Make them worth their money.
Then get a tank of gas , good (read cheap) Motel and don't look back.
As muh as it is convenient to hunt on a food plot, you miss all the adventure a trip in the woods would give you.

Ask the MNR that handles your district of choice to send you a map showing the crown land. Each map is like 12$ or so and with about 5 you can cover a HUGE area.

as i and shotgun learned this season stay away from crown land that has vehicles lined up the road beside it you WILL NOT fill your tags
another season wasted dang it
