I am referring to the Olympic style shooting where you get 75 /90 minutes to shoot 60 rounds of 22lr at 50 meters from a proned position.

I have recently dug out my dad's Russian 22lr target rifle with diopter sights. I went to the range this weekend and the diopter was perfect for the regulation target at 25 meters. With some concentration, i was able to get consistent 5 shot touching groups until the guys with the big caliber rifles and muzzle breaks showed up.

Im very happy with these results, especially since this is my first time (beginners luck maybe?) but im definitely hooked on this sport

Can one you competition gurus point me in the right direction for proper training? Any reading material, websites, or tips would be great :) I hope to improve my consistency and hopefully compete in the near future :)

I enjoy reading the magazine at targetshooter.com, which is devoted to the British shooting scene. There is often info on there that would be of interest to your style of shooting.

Shoot 20 round strings without taking the rifle out of your shoulder. I have not shot an English match, but I have shot NRA smallbore matches in the US. I think it was 22 minutes for unlimited sighters and 20 shot for score. If you take the rifle out of the shoulder every shot, you will run out of time.

I suggest the book "With Winning in Mind", by Lanny Basham. Not much to do with actual shooting, but everything to do with mental management to focus on making the perfect shot every time.
