I tried to take my mags apart to clean it up. I got the floor plate off but can't get the spring out. I don't want to just reef it out of the bottom and possibly damage the mag.

Anyone have any tips?

Just fiddle with it. Pull one side of the spring out then the other until you get to the follower. Then fiddle with that until it comes out. My first time took me about 30 seconds each.

Didn't mean to sound condescending. Are they USGI or Norc? Those are the only I have taken apart. The follower can be a bit of a pain but it comes out pretty easy at the proper angle. Hope that helps.

Pretty much same as cleaning your AR mags or many other mags.

Fiddle the spring, pull it out using the snake-rattle-roll jigging and tilt the follower to get it out.

I didn't think you were condescending at all. I have no idea if they're USGI, I got them from Marstar for $35 so I'm guessing Norc.

The spring seems extremely tight fitting to the walls of the mag. I don't want to try forcing it out and screw up the spring.

I'll give it a try again and we'll see what I come up with.

I never tought about stripping them, I just go trigger happy with the G96 can, I put that stuff everywhere. Makes everything reaaaaal smooth

But now that you mention it, I might give it a look

I have been successful. Mag has been disassembled and cleaned out. There was a fair bit of cosmo and crap in there. Funny place to find lint! Fluckin thing is only like a month old.

My new mags arrived today. Stripped, degreased and reassembled four mags in the time it took me to get the first one apart. I guess mags can have personalities too and the first one was a real #####!
