have my hands on some diamondhead BUIS(gas block height). does anyone have experience with these? whats the best way to tell if they are real legitimate diamondheads or if theyre some aliexpress knockoffs?

the ones i have do have serial numbers on the bottom and dont seem to have the crappy finish on them

You said the sights have serial numbers on them, yes?

Contact the manufacturer, and confirm whether or not they are legitimate serial numbers.

If they work and they're solid who cares.
BUIS are for back up not for every day use, so if you don't have someone shooting back at you does it really doesn't matter if they aren't top quality?

If they are important to you then spend the money to buy them new from a reputable retailer and if they're just there to be more mall ninja then it doesn't really matter.

I don't run BUIS on my rifles (I have a few sets but they sit in the parts bin), I believe in buying quality optics and not having to worry about them failing. Good BUIS are $200+, for me that money is much better spent going towards better glass.

If you're one of those that worries about batteries then buy an Aimpoint and change the battery every 2 years. You could leave it on 24 hours a day for longer than that and not have to worry about the battery so changing it every 2 years is an almost 100% guarantee that you will never experience a dead battery. And again, no one is shooting back at us so is there any danger if a battery goes dead.

I go for light and simple with my rifles, I don't add stuff that doesn't make it shoot better. BUIS are a waste of rail space and are just added weight I don't need for the shooting I do.

YMMV
