How to tell if my Hi Power is a clone or not...

So who designed the A-Bolt, the BAR, etc.? I'm under the impression that they are Browning designs. (I'd rather discover that I was wrong about that than continue to be wrong.) I'm not trying to tell you you should think any better of Browning than you want to, just to clarify what I think we should understand "re-badging" to mean.
My understanding is that FN was always doing design and engineering work for Browning, even before the 1977 takeover.

I don't know the story behind them other than is posted on the intarweb. All I know is that my "B" series HP has absolutely no proof marks on it. Whether that is common or not I don't know, but my 1950's HP has a crap load of FN marks on it.

I do know that it is machined very well and has (had) a very nice finish but holster wear and using it in IPSC has marred it a bit. It has always run without any hiccups.
