I just picked up a 73 but it needs a few parts and don't know how to tell if it's a 1st,2nd or 3rd model ?.Serial #197XX.Will all model parts fit ?.This is getting out of my range of knowledge being as old as it is.
Thanks !

Serial number 1 to 30,000 is first model production. Most parts are interchangeable but first model parts are hard to find, the first 30,000 of 720,000 rifles produced. The first model had a sliding thumbprint dust cover that had two guides which were part of the frame. Plus first models had no calibre marking since they were only made in .44 calibre.

Sounds like a real prize!

Lead bullets and low pressures only, friend: modern ammo with jacketed slugs would hammer the rifling out of that soft old barrel in about ONE box.

It's just about 140 years old now; gotta take good care of it.

Congrats on the Fine Toy!
