How to trim the pins sticking out of the front sight on a no. 5 Jungle Carbine

The pins are sticking out should I cut them off or use a chisel type tool? I'm a new to basement gun smithing.

Huh? Are they harming something? I fail to see why you would want to do anything at all to them.

I was told to look for the "unground" pins (amongst other things) if I ever chose to buy a No.5. Just my 2 cents, but I'd leave it be. I know they ain't pretty, but if you ever decide to sell it, anyone in the know will view the ground sight block pins and think, "Hmmm, what else has been done to this thing?"

He added a numrich flash hider...I had to ad one to my bubba'd JC.....I cut the pins with a set of dykes and peened over a bit.

And my Lee enfield sight blades all fall right through....had to flare an open dovetail one just a bit.

Yes...have been through this too. Numrich item = junk pot metal. Nothing at all like the original steel quality hider. Bayonets do not fit properly either, the lug and bell size are not accurate.

You could cut the pins off with a Dremel if you were very careful.

As for the front sight blade...you need the ones with a slot at the bottom (British). Take it out, then spread the bottom open by prying on it with a screwdriver. You want it to spread so it actually holds in the sight slot.

BTW, Springfield Sporters lists a real JC hider on a cut off barrel for sale...but they can't/won't ship up here. Plus you'll have that headache of trying to remove it from the barrel, which is a bugger.
