How to use a pistol grip

lol funny, but if anyone has ever shot a 3\" mag out of a pistol grip shot gun, you will understand how easy it is for this to happen

I don't have any sympathy for him because aside from choosing a monster load that has no useful purpose in that configuration, he didn't have an ounce of proper technique in that video. Pistol grips aren't meant to be sighted traditionally at eye level, but used close quarters in a defensive stance and "pointed", not aimed. The gun should be held no more than chest high, and the forearm of the right arm tucked against the body for stability. The elbow of your left arm should be similarly braced on your left side.

You should not try to "aim" a pistol grip shotgun from your shoulder for the very reason he so aptly demonstrated.

But what am I thinking, the tacti-cool vest obviously qualified him for the job. :D

hold it out infront of you so your arms are almost locked. spreads the recoil across both arms, keeps it out of your face and lets you use your bead sight. shooting from the hip takes alot of practice to hit anything past 5 yds, not a very useful way of expending ammo, and it gets hard on the palm/wrist.

Yeah, looking down the barrel while using a PGO isn't that hard, been there, done that, even 3" slugs weren't too demanding

It didn't come anywhere near my face or even hurt my wrist but I wouldn't want to do it on a regular basis just to avoid any kind of eventual damage to the wrist.

I've got a Brazilian CBC single-shot 12 gauge, cut down on the barrel and to the pistol-grip........with 2 3/4 dove loads (7 1/2 shot) it's a veritable pussy-cat.....;)....and it carries a huge "grin-factor" with it.....:p

I fully agree with the idea of keeping the shotgun well-away from the face/shoulder, but braced in front/to the side of you....:yingyang:....at 10-15 feet it's plenty "accurate" for what needs shooting....:D

After all the shooting that went into my thread, my hand was pretty sore. I fired about 25 rounds total (including a few 3" slugs) with the pistol grip, I can see how if you only ever shot like that, you could do some damage.

What was funny, was when I showed my wife the vid at the start of this thread, before I even told her what the vid was about, she saw him holding the gun, and said, "Oh my God, it's gonna hit his face." She's never even touched a firearm.

^thats spliced together :D

shooting light loads or managed recoil loads from a pistol grip shotgun is not a big deal.

its always the morons that shoot 3" magnum slugs out of them that get #%@$ed up. its usually these same morons that think its hilarious to hand their 90lb girlfriend a shotgun loaded with a 3" mag for her first shotgun experience.
like this moron, who should be pistol-whipped for endangering everyone else at the range:

Good thing he had on his tacticool vest and canteen!:)

Hopefully he filled his canteen so he can irrigate the wound before it's bandaged and rinse the blood out of his mouth. I wonder if on his next that super-duper tactical vest will have a firstaid kit attached. Those vests are sooooooo wannabe.

Looks like another smartass handed a 3" magnum loaded pistol grip shotgun to his girlfriend.

At least she was smiling at the end and still had all her teeth!

I don't think that was a magnum load, she just kind of let go and dropped it.
