How to use lee dipper?

I started out with Lee dippers,Then my good buddy "gunasaurus" advised to weigh every other load:eek: Some were out by 3 grs:eek:  now I weigh everything, And I too just bought a Frankford Arsenal dig. scale from SIR.
FYI Red Baron, dipper 1.9 = 29.0grs of H110

If you read the Lee reloading manual, you'll see that he 's a proponent of loading by volume over weight. One time (not at band camp) I compared thrown loads Vs. weighed to .1gr weighed to prove him an idiot. The loads thrown from the Lee Perfect Measure grouped tighter than the weighed ones. Research in progress, but it seems that Richard Lee is rich because he's smart.

I started loading 32 years ago with a Lee loader. The first upgrade I did was buy a Redding scale. The loads Lee recommends with their dippers are really anemic. Even if a person gets good with them you can't fine tune your loads without a scale. I still use dippers when I'm just loading a few rounds of something and just use them instead of setting up a powder measure but I dump the dipper on a scale to bring it up to the exact weight I want.
