How warm before gophers come out

If it is a bright sunny day, but cooler will Alberta.... gophers come out. Or any other gophers for that matter ;

How warm does it have to be? 10, 15 degrees C?

I saw a few this morning. Its sunny and only about plus 5. Ideally bright calm days are the best but I have seen gophers out in most conditions (not counting rain and high winds) in the spring and summer.

The sun is shining here and the ground is covered in snow. I can see gophers running around on the snow as I look out the window. My dog is out there running around trying to do his part in keeping numbers down, I just wish he was better at it

I find that wind seems to be the determining factor with gopher activity.

The gophers will be out on days with bad field conditions, conditions that would preclude you from shooting from a kneeling or esp. prone position, I've seen them out in snow, mud, just below freezing temps, though not in the same numbers as the next warm sunny days. This is very different then the eastern Groundhogs which like it much warmer and drier before they come out.
