How were the Russian SKS's brought in?

So I wonder what happened to those seized yugo SKS? :(

Some socialist Italian police chief named Militello is whacking-off as he's watching them being stacked in the cellar of his police station, never to resurface on the legit market again.

"Weapons of War", he says... It's obvious that he doesn't know the first thing about either war or weapons. Go back to your "mamma", douchebag!

^Nope, they cleared up the confusion and the shipment continued to Century Arms.

As to the Russian SKS, they were sold off by the Russian Govt, nothing to do with ammo.

I heard they came via zeppelin directly over the North Pole from the secret redoubt of Joseph Stalin's clone.

Apparently he needed the hard currency as his Vodka stocks were running low.

They are punched with the Ukrainian refurbishing mark, therefore the country of origin is Ukraine.

Also former Soviet satellite states have no problem selling off their Russian surplus. Could have been from Hungary, Georgia or even the Ukraine among many other places.

There are caves, and wear houses of this stuff all over Eastern Europe.

I have read that on a russian forum; if you read russian I can give you the link.
They claim the refurbishing was done more recently not in the soviet times, therefore there is a ukrainian mark; there is indeed no info on when the guns were refurbished, could have been in the sixties or in the nineties.
The SKS is as popular in the CIS as it is here.

Which looks like what, compared to the USSR refurb marks? Is there a site to look this up?

Refurbishment mark

Doesn't really matter, does it?
The SKS is Soviet made, in the Soviet Russian Federation (RSFSR, Росси́йская Сове́тская Федерати́вная Социалисти́ческая Респу́блика).
According to Russian forums, the export of russian military hardware for civilian use is prohibited.
Fortunately, Ukraine as the second largest soviet republic still has a huge stock of soviet made weaponry they don't need and they do not have restrictions for export :p.

Great detective work KW! So maybe it's likely the rifles came from Ukraine stockpiles only - no Russian connection....I should dust off my rusty Ukrainian and go visit the old country! ;)

You didn't get it... they are not "Ukrainian" as they are made in the 50's in the Soviet Union, Russian Federative Socialist Republic.
These selling here now are from the Ukrainian SSR stock, but were never made in Ukraina as both Tula and Ijevsk are within Russia proper.
And BTW, I'm looking for a Romanian made as they are more collectible than the russians.

Ukrainian huh?Guess I'd better track down Rosetta Stone,and take a vacation!perhaps Romanian,and Albanian too.....since I'm over that way....:p

Nobody said they were made in the Ukraine - only sold from stockpiles still held there. SA85 is hoping there's similar SKS stores in Albania and Romania....:D

Well, good luck; the Albanians probably still use them, and Romania has sold everything they had to the US.
I just exchanged emails with a friend from Romania and he said there is no way to find one locally, him being a collector of Romanian made guns.

Oh, PS: the russian 3rd army in the Pridnestrovie region of Moldova has huge stockpiles (50,000 tonnes or more) of weapons and ammunition in the local depots, leftovers from the soviet era :bangHead:.

luck has nothing to do with it....and Romanian and Albanian SKS's are available if you know where to look...hopefully one of each will be in my posession soon..

I have also noticed since I picked up another 1950r dated Ruskie that there are different refurbs...One has stamped serials on the mag well, and a rather crappy paint/refinish....this one is superb, with a much better finish and an engraved serial on the side of the mag well..Looking at them would make one think they came from different armouries...Both guns are Bell....
