How would you build a 10/22 without using a single Ruger part?

From what I understand, you are supposed to completely strip it down to individual parts. Put the receiver off to the side, and all the other parts in a clean box. Throw away the box of parts and buy entirely new ones to re-install onto the receiver.

Grouse Man posted this in another thread but it got me thinking, with Dlask, Kidd and others making recievers now you don't even need the Ruger receiver anymore to build a 10/22.:D

So if you were to build a totally custom 10/22 without a single Ruger part how would YOU do it?

We're talkin 10/22's, haters you not helping by saying something different then a 10/22...;)

Kidd, VQ, Tac Sol & PC all make bolts.

It is very easy IMO, spendy, but you could.....

Dlask Reciever
Kidd or VQ Trigger group
Bolt (above)
Barrel (pick your kool-aid)
extractor
Bolt handle assy.

I really can't think of anything else..........

Now...are we talking a "dream" 10/22 or building one from parts that are available to Canada??

For the latter.....

Dlask receiver
Kidd bolt
Kidd trigger group
Green Mountain / Dlask barrel
Tactical Innovations super charging handle
Aftermarket extractor
Aftermarket scope rail
Aftermarket V-block and bolts
Home made pins (or Dlask)
Boyds Stock

My father replaced the handle,
and I replaced the head.
Is it really my grandfather's axe?"

I have a 10/22 with no ruger parts except for the ruger 10 shot mag. I also have a Tactical Solutions 25 round mag.

Dlask Receiver
Kidd bolt
Kidd Charging Handle
Hornet Trigger group
Shilen 16" Barrel
Promag Ambi stock
Tuffer Buffer
Hawke 6x24 50mm Scope

Pricey but I love it! The only thing I might change is the the stock, but I haven't found a better one as of yet!

Cool, I hadn't heard of Hornet before, how does their trigger group compare to Kidd's?

Just bought a 10/22 with no Ruger parts (well except for the magazine)..its called VOLQUARTSEN..comes fully assembled with accuracy guarantee of five shot groups @ 50 yards of 0.375" --doubt you will do any better "building one" with aftermaket parts.

Thompson did that and built the R-55, which is match accurate for $500 and no muss no fuss, and no pride whatsoever in building your own unit (which can be the most valuable part of ownership......to some)

Nice rifle but IMO..you could easily build a Kidd 10/22 that would out shoot a V.Q. on most days! :nest: :D

Just remember....the rifle is only as good as the shooter. ;)

Yes, it's much better to have someone else "build one" with aftermaket parts.
