How would you make a moving target ?

Murderers, rapists, and pedophiles are a good start. Not to mention in these economic times it would be a win win for the government, they reduce the costs of the prison system and also reduce the numbers in there. Plus saving the money on most of them being repeat offenders, court costs etc.

No time penalty for hitting target carrier....sounds fair to me :)

You could a board in the centre of tire with no rim , then put a target on the board . Then have some one roll it for you.Or Roll it down hill. Tricky to hit when rolling and bouncing.

You cannot do that in terms of IPSC matches as you cannot present a target at greater than 90 degrees to the shooter.

I think a couple of clothesline pully's, mounted on some 4x4 posts driven into the ground, and an electic motor should be the way to go. The trick is how do you get the electric motor to reverse direction once the target get's to one side, so that you can have it on a constant left/right/left loop so you can shoot a string of shots, either shooting it as it moves left then right, or, waiting for it to reset so you can focus on developing your lead one direction at a time.

You see them do this sort of thing on Top Shot all the time. I think MGM targets is now selling a moving target setup like this as well.

You put a limit switch at each end and reverse rotation of the motor when it hits the limit. A little timer for a pause then start it in the opposite direction. Now if I could only find a good electrician! I was watching a show on Discovery a little while back about segways, they showed lots of uses including how some of the personal security contractors where using them as platforms for moving targets in urban warfare scenarios. That would be the best, but slightly over my budget!

You know, it's funny. When I was writing my suggestion, I kept thinking to myself, geez, an electrician should know what I'm talking about. Maybe one will chime in....

The boys in Seattle use one regularly at the Washington State IDPA match. The target is mounted on rollars that run on rails and pulled along by a small tractor device. The speed can be varied as it can be set to stop and go as well as reverse direction. Fun to shoot and can be used in various scenarios.

Used snowmobile/quad or new

2x4's

Bungies

Duct tape(sets cruise control)

Likely only be a one time use so may I also suggest some flares or birthday sparklers for effect!
