Just getting into hand loading and was wondering if anyone has any starting bullets and powder suggestions for me. Going to want some varment loads ie Columbia ground Squirril and some Barnes type loads for deer and dogs. Appreciate any advice.
 
will depends on your barrels twist rate. my dads tikka and my CZ 550 both at 1-14" twist and would not stablize any barns bullet over 50gr that didnt have a lead core. I went to 55gr Sierra Gamekings and they worked great on Dogs but never did get a chance nor would i wasnt to try them on deer... I personally thing a 55gr bullet is to light for a big doe or buck white tail deer.
Now that being said i know ppl who do it with great success and the 55gr game king is there bullet...

As for the powder I use 4007ssc with excellent results but you wont find it any more.. H380 or Varget have been my other favourites.

I shoot 40gr v-maxs with 37.5gr of varget out of my R700 1:14 twist heavy barrel. federal cases and federal primers. I get less than 1/2 moa and gophers are mostly in pieces when they are hit, even at 250 yards.
I would really like to find some nosler 64gr bsb to try out for deer. Nosler says they will stabilize in 1:14 twist.
