Howa 1500 vs tikka t3x

2 Howas, 3 Vanguards here, got them all when the $$ was par, I think the most expensive one was $600, cheapest was $400.
Based on how well built they are, it's crazy they retailed for that price.

Owned both tikka and howa/vanguard. Both shoot, both smooth. Tikka synthetics are way better, I prefer howa hact 2 stage trigger over tikka even with yodave kit. I now have my howas and tikka are gone. My howas are upgraded to b&c stocks etc.

Yes I have heard the lite and Superlite in 300 are not a bench gun, and I personally have no problem lugging around an extra couple lbs in the bush if it makes it more tolerable to shoot on the bench. I thought about buying a howa barreled action but cost wise almost seems smarter to buy a rifle and build off the action. I do like the hinged floor plate for in the bush. Anyone purchased a howa from one of the dealers on cgn?

I prefer the Howa. I shot my neighbour's Tikka in 30-06 and didn't like it. Neither did he so he sold it and got a Mossberg which oddly enough was nicer to shoot.

I now have 2 Howa rifles (308 & 223) got one from Prophet River and one from Jo Brook and recently got a detachable mag kit from ISS. All excellent to deal with. The Hogue stock feels great but a bit more flex in the forend than I like. The trigger and bolt are smooth and the pad soaks up recoil perfectly. The hinged floor plates are much more solid than the DM kit but I haven't had any issues with either.

Great comparison and advice here.

I'm looking at the Tikka T3 and the Weatherby Vanguard in .270, will be using factory loads. Didn't like the feel of the Tikka in hand, looking forward to shouldering the Weatherby.

DBM not really a big deal for me, and the monte carlo stock is a plus. I like the idea of a Cerakote finish at this price point, its really wet where I normally hunt.

Anyone had issues with Cerakote wearing or getting scratched up? Debating between stainless and Cerakote, haven't owned either.

Thanks

I won't bash the Tikka as I have never owned one.

I own 3 Howa 1500's. Two have detachable mags. You can get replacement bottom metal quite cheaply.

I have no complaints on the howa's as they have never failed me at the range or in the field.
