howa 1500

If you don't buy it, please let me know who is selling it and I will buy it right away. I have had a Howa 1500 SS/synthetic with Hogue stock for about 7 years. It is the ONLY gun I have had for that long. (I have sold/traded off over 400 guns since then, yet that one just stays in the locker.) It has harvested 4 black bears , 2 moose, and 2 wolves. Smoothest action and most accurate gun I own. It is also in .300wm just in case you wondered. Seriously, if you pass, let me know where I can get it. Thanks

Cracking rifles for the money, they have quite a following over here and seem to be more highly thought of than rem 700's due to the high build quality and consistency from one rifle to another. Lots of custom parts now coming onto the market so pimping is getting easier.
You might want to look into strengthening/swapping out the Hogue stock as they tend to flex when pre-loading with a bipod (stock touches barrel & poi shifts!) but the laminate stocks are ok.
Prices are creeping up now since they have become popular.

Weatherby has the Vanguard built by Howa, Howa sells the action as their own model 1500 and it is also used by a number of other brands with their own stamp on the receiver. They compare better with a higher end Remington from days past when Remington was synonymous with quality.

A Howa M1500 is a Vanguard. Retails at about $650. Why the price is so low?

Technically the vanguard is a howa. Seeing as how howa makes the action and weatherby puts their name on it. To the op. get it. I love mine. I also paid more than double that for a 1500 targetmaster combo. Scope sucked so I just got a new sightron from Jerry. Love it even more now.
