Howa 6.5 Grendel

MDT also released an aluminum trigger guard for factory stock inlet. Mag release has been moved to the rear to fix the possibility of an accidental mag drop

All well and good except it doesn't accept stock mags! Only the Mambamag 10 rounders. Stupidest thing I ever heard, the one I ordered for my mini is heading back tomorrow.

Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. The Howa mini bottom metal will convert your rifle to use the straight-fit Howa mini magazines and you will no longer be able to use your factory magazines. I have provided a link below for you to take a look at. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

golly that 10 round is the size of a 20 round mag, here's what a ruger 10 round looks like, the ruger 10 round mag is the same size as the howa 5 round

Just a fabulous hunting round. I've use a regular Howa heavy barrel. Just a treat to shoot.
I wish there was a lead or full copper option for hunting ammo. I don't like Hornady ammo for hunting.
We've had some issue with penetration in our hunting camp. A couple shattered bullets.
Both 6.5 Creedmoors.

Check out the Barnes 115gr Tac-Tx loading, that bullet is designed to work around 6.5 Grendel velocities. Should serve the non handloader who wants to shoot monos.

I got a box of those Barnes 115 TacTx bullets from tod bartell to to try out in my 6.5 G rifle Should be able to launch them at 2600-2650 fps easily with CFE223 powder . RJ

Oh do you? Cool! Would be really interested in hearing how they do. What barrel length are you going to shoot em from?

Hiya TB,

Was just looking through this thread and wanted to ask, what are your thoughts overall on the 115gr as a medium/big game bullet? Liking the experiences so far?

Cheers and good shooting to you and your lil man!

I took a bear a couple weeks ago with the 115gr Barnes. Slight quartering away angle at 30 yards, entered behind the shoulder, and exited the far side shoulder. Bear ran about 20 yards and piled up

Mini Bartell was pretty happy to see his Grendel get bloodied

only shot the one bear with it, killed quick as anything could. The 115gr Tac-Tx will be in the magazine of his rifle next fall when he's finally old enough to hunt. We're planning an elk hunt and I have zero hesitations using that bullet at the typical distances encountered. My average shot distance on a elk is about 80 yards and the little Grendel won't bounce off with the Barnes

Thank you!

Definitely looks and sounds like a winner
