Howa barrel threads

Although metric as Ted says they are still 16 TPI 60 degree threads, and Vanguard and Howa are the same action, therefore the same barrel shank. One can also fit several other barrels quite easily if one has access to a lathe..........Rem, Win and Sako come to mind immediately.

Hmmm, I take it those barrel's shanks would be thick enough to turn down and retread to size? I can see me joining Ted's Frankenrifle thread. Lol

From what I have gathered from searching, the Remington 700 threads are very close at 1/16"x 16 and some have just ran that tap into the Howa receiver to allow the use of barrels for the 700's.

that's a backwards way to do things and results in a messed up receiver.

I've put a few 700 barrels into Howas with various names on them.

Turn OD to 26mm/1.02 ish, pick up the thread in the middle and the 16 tpi thread cleans right up when threaded to a 1.5mm pitch.

I've done two 7mm-08 to 280AI's with 700 barrels in Howa receivers.
